For the past 28years the Antique Tractor Association has been sponsoring the Antique Tractor and Mule Days Festival. Taking place annually the first Saturday in May, this event attracts people from 10 states. Currently this takes place in the Vanity Fair Outlet Mall parking lot after a lively parade through the downtown area. For the past three years the Merchant's Association has sponsored a Mule Days "Kick-Off" with a Street Fair and Concert downtown on the Friday night prior. In case you hadn't heard, Elvis & Rusty Tabor are regulars for us for this event.

Hanson has a long history of festivals and community events. In the 1950's the main street was blocked to traffic, a canvas was draped from the tallest building and movies were shone in the evenings. Citizens came from all the surrounding areas to join in the festivities. Inevitably the reel broke and the crowds heard the projection manager yell, "wait a minute, wait a minute" while he patched the broken film. This summer we will revive that lovely time with our own Wait-A-Minute Festival.

Hanson KY Street FestivalThe Annual Village Arts Festival takes place the 3rd Saturday of every March. Located in the downtown fire department artists from all over the state sell and demonstrate their artwork. Students from Hanson Elementary also have an exibit with their artwork hung in each of the businesses. Workshops such as gourd painting and basketweaving allow participants to take something home. Authors are on hand to sign their books and live music shows are scheduled throughout the day. Please call 828-230-6501 for an application or download an application from this site.

A Hanson Harvest Market sets up in the Fall to provide color and supplies for our shoppers. Working on the Tried & True Honor System, buyers just pay at any of the shops if no one is there to take their money.

The Second Saturday in November is the time for our HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE. All the buildings are outlined in white lights and roving musicians entertain shoppers and merchants alike.
